Chinese Language Learning: What is Si1 Xiang3 Zhe3?



During our Chinese language learning, guessing the Chinese phrases according to the Chinese Pinyin is a common type of the questions in Chinese exam. Today, in this online Chinese course, I would like to give you a phase of Chinese Pinyin “si1 xiang3 zhe3” and can you guess what does it mean?
Generally speaking, it is not hard to get the answer “思想者(si1 xiang3 zhe3)”. Of course, the pinyin of it is “si1 xiang3 zhe3” exactly. And it is familiar to us all, which means the thinker. However, I want to introduce a new phrase to you that is “私享者(si1 xiang3 zhe3)”.
At the first look of “私享者”, you may find it is not a frequently-used word. You are right because it is a net word. With the development of the internet and society, a large amount of new factors has been merged into Chinese language, which causes the great change and development of the language itself. As a Chinese learner, we need not only learn the basic language, but also get to know the newest advancement of the language.
From the angle of each individual character of this phrase, the exact meaning of it may be clearer. “(si1)” means “alone or individually”. “” can be interpreted as “享受(xiang3 shou4), which means enjoy”. As for “(zhe3)”, it naturally indicates that this phrase refers to a kind of people. So what kind of people does it stand for if the three characters combined together?
Literally “私享者” means “独自享乐的人(du2 zi4 xinag3 le4 de5 ren2)”, which means the person who is said to be hedonic alone. Actually, it refers to those pursue health, leisure and an independent lifestyle. They have their own ideas, pick their own place to stay and share leisure time with family and friends, but always keep some time for their own.
